With these in mind anybody in power could become a powerful foe.The reason why corruption has become a problem is because it’s fair to become greedy for more.When people come into a position of power where the definition of control becomes a new definition according to their point of view, they unleash a feeling in their minds that whatever decision they make that directly conflicts the lives of other people, they don’t feel responsible. People in power feel that they can do anything when their in power for a long period of time.

When Macbeth returns to meet the witches for more on his prophecy, he is given the wrong information as the witches produce an apparition that states, “the power of man: for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth” (4.1. This prophecy is very misleading because it gave the impression to Macbeth that he will not be killed so soon, which boosted his ego as he continues his tyrant ruling over Scotland.

Likewise the corruption that had taken over the witches had once again blinded them from the fact that with this new found information, Macbeth would continue to tyrant the land.

And soon it gets out of control and now you have a corrupted person who in order to change would have to step out of power and become a person who doesn’t control.

Nothing can really be done to sustain it or avoid it, if you take a corrupt person in power and replace a fair and just person. You just have to assume and hope the replacement will be a fair person.

It was Lady Macbeth’s desire for control over her husband that set him on his course of destruction and murder.

Shakespeare portrays Lady Macbeth as a ruthless, overpowering woman who dominates her husband and his actions.Thus by the witches power over Macbeth’s fate, their actions and thought become corrupted.Although it is evident that many characters have become corrupted through their gain of power, it is most apparent in Macbeth as his gain of kingship eases his use of murder, makes him more self centered and isolates him from his family.Macbeth is a classic tale of greed and the corrupting influence of power.Power and Greed: The Driving Force behind the Story of Macbeth The rise of an individual and the gain of power can often be intoxicating.It is Lady Macbeth who comes up with the plan to kill Duncan, because she knows that Macbeth would never commit such an act on his own without her pushing him to because Macbeth’s nature “is too full o’ the milk of human kindness / To catch the nearest way” (1.5.15,16).She develops the plan and organizes the details while expecting Macbeth to merely follow her orders.However the witches, blind with their power, were too corrupted to realize that.Similarly, the witches also manipulated Macbeth by their unclear prophecies.This control placed in the hands of one can often ignite thoughts and actions of greed found deep inside.This can often be seen in the history of civilization as countless leaders have neglected the good of their people to fuel their own selfish desires.
